WIP Showreel March 08

hello, hello. here is what I've compiled so far...really short and sweet. The Martial Arts piece is still in progress (horrible spine) so please point out any distractions... I really feel I need a new lip-synch piece, it's just going to take time...and i've lost interest in the 'dumd and dumber' piece I was working on. he he.
The Polar Bear stuff belongs to the Framestore CFC, and New Line Cinema, and is animation I did for the Golden Compass Movie

I'm still working on the Walkball soccer shot, and a new Moom performance piece...check out the new Moom 4.o rig on highend3d, its awesome.

hey dude...
the little walking ball is sweet.
the karate, is strange, seems to be missing weight,,,,maybe a lower antecipation, and what is that,,,does she get punched?
when she stands up,,,maybe you could have the legs coming up faster and earlier... kind of pushing the rest of the body.

if you upload only the karate video with the frame numbers is easy to comment.

Thanks for the comments so fast guys. Tim, I hope you are well buddy. Daniel, I've given though to what you've said, and its true, there are still a few pose to pose moments in the karate performance where I could let parts lead a bit more and also show more gravity and 'crunch'. I'm going to work on that today. later guys!

Wassup D. Congrats on the new showreel. You 3D guys are just paving the way it seems. I realise that everytime I comment on 3D stuff, I have no idea what the technical limitations are. I always look at it from a 2D perspective. I realised that after listening to Animation podcasts how hard it is. Then again I'm sure you want to push rigs as far as you can take them so maybe my ignorance helps a bit huh? Anyway, was looking at the Kung fu gal. Is she for a game? Martial arts is so hard to capture in animation I think. I think Avatar does it really well, and also Kung Fu Panda looks like it could be good. My only suggestion is ref the shit out of it LOL. Look at real martial artists. You can always tell the Jet Li's from the Keanu Reeves' No what I mean? happy holidays man...

hey there Wes, hows the new Environment man?

Yeah, I actually started out using a refernce on youtube for the roundhouse kick, which was kinda cool, because it was a kick lesson and done in stages (poses) but after a while started looking like it was poses, so i had to iron everything out so that it was flowing (hehe, like Bruce Lee says) andyhow, I knew the punches could be better, but I had so many problems with the rig, and the head was all over the place (FK spine) that i used an ole trick from my previous work, where I constrained the head to another object to heep the head even.....blah blah, any how, i got some real cool kungfu training vids now, if anyones interested...will try something else with an IK spine rig soon.
